Economic improvement around the county means employers are starting to hire more workers. Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas staff has experienced a steady flow of businesses that are taking advantage of direct assistance and services from Workforce staff for face-to-face recruiting events and applicant pre-screening to help hire qualified, experienced workers.
American Pollution Control Corp (AMPOL), a leader in oil spill response and environmental services, worked closely with the Orange Workforce staff to recruit and hire experienced vacuum truck operators. The Louisiana company, which opened a new office in Southeast Texas, needed experienced workers with Class B CDL. After two successful recruiting events, the company hired four environmental technicians and two drivers; one of the new employees was also a military veteran. AMPOL also used the Orange Workforce center to hold orientation and training classes for the new employees. Tim Mayer, human resource director states, “It was an extreme pleasure to work with and meet everyone at Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas. It was just by a chance phone call that I was able to find an extremely helpful organization which worked to meet our company’s needs.” Mayer added, “Workforce Solutions assisted our company with a place to stage a hiring and training center for our new Texas employees. I believe this partnership will continue to grow as our company grows within the Texas area.”
In the Beaumont Workforce Center, Westex Security Services of Houston used our recruiting and hiring services to hire qualified security guards. “Thank you for continuously having me at your establishment for job fairs regardless of the fact that I was able to give you little or no notice,” said Aaron Haase, HR manager for the company. He continued, “Your staff is able to provide quality candidates to meet our company’s qualifications and they have made great employees.” Haase was able to hire supervisors in addition to entry level security officers. Eight of the new employees hired by Westex are veterans.
Workforce services are designed to assist businesses and employers as much as jobs seekers. Employment services go much further than just posting a job opening. “We invite employers and businesses to come to the Centers and take advantage of hiring assistance,” says Marilyn Smith, executive director. “Our staff will inform you of incentive programs and help you find information about the local labor market.”
