Veterans GOLD STANDARD Services Available Now!

In August 2011, President Obama announced the Gold Card initiative to help ensure that Post
9/11 Era Veterans leave the military career ready. With the declaration of the Iraq war’s end last
December, our Workforce Centers stand ready to serve returning veterans and assist them with
intensive, follow-up services for a successful transition into the civilian workforce.

“Most veterans receive their Gold Card as they go through the Transition Assistance Program (TAP),
said Harry Reed, Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) assistant regional vet employment
representative.

Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas staff has experienced a steady flow of businesses that are
taking advantage of direct assistance and services from Workforce staff for face-to-face recruiting
events and applicant pre-screening to help hire qualified, experienced workers.

American Pollution Control Corp (AMPOL), a leader in oil spill response and environmental
services, worked closely with the Orange Workforce staff to recruit and hire experienced
vacuum truck operators.

Online Job Matching Resource Gets  New Look!

 

WorkInTexas.com, the state’s comprehensive online job resource for employers and job seekers,
is getting a makeover. Though many of the features and functionality have been upgraded based
on customers’ input over the years, the site has looked the same since its initial launch in May
2004. The newly updated site includes a simpler, improved logon, access to your home page, and
collapsible/expandable features in addition to a new color palette. Users can now also adjust font
sizes for better on-screen readability.
